Ukrainian opera singer Oleksiy Kryvchenya
 Ukrainian bass Oleksiy Kryvchenya was born in Odesa, Ukraine. He graduated from Odesa Consrevatory in 1938. During his study in Conservatory he was invited to Odesa Philharmonic where he performed solo concerts.
From 1938 to 1945 he performed at the stages of Ukrainian Opera Houses, including Luhansk Opera, Donetsk Opera and Dnipropetrivsk Opera.
From 1949 to 1971 he performed at the stage of Bolshoi Opera. In 1955 Oleksiy Kryvchenya sang the main role at the premiere performance of Ukrainian opera "Taras Bulba" by Lysenko at the stage of Kyiv Opera.
His repertoire included: Karas from Ukrainian opera "Zaporozhets beyond Danube", Vyborny from Ukrainian opera "Natalka Poltavka" by Lysenko, Taras from Ukrainian opera "Taras Bulba" by Lysenko, Boris (Boris Godunov), Ruslan, Farlaf ( Ruslan and Ludmila),  Susanin,  Miller (Rusalka), Konchak ( Prince Ihor), Don Basilio, Khovansky.
He had a great voice with a wide diaposon and with a wonderful low register.
He was also a good actor. His characters which he created at opera stage were deeply realistic and convincing.
